DPMM FC were denied back-to-back wins for a second time this season after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Tanjong Pagar United FC at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas last night.
The Brunei-based outfit will have to wait for a first win since returning to the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium as all of their three victories came in the Lion City.
The hosts went in front through a fortuitous own goal by Faizal Roslan in the 30th minute.
After Nazry Aiman Azaman sent a promising pass to Miguel Oliveira, the latter provided a low cross which was met by the outstretched legs of Gabriel Gama.
Fortunately for the away side, a defender was able to clear the ball off the line with the visiting goalkeeper nowhere to be seen.
Despite enjoying most of the play in the first half, the Jaguars levelled the match through a brilliant finish by Salif Cisse in the 66th minute.
The visitors’ substitution nearly paid off as Syahadat Masnawi saw his point blank header thwarted by the palms of the impressive Kristijan Naumovski.
On the other end, a dazzling run from Miguel Oliveira with the aid of Hakeme Yazid bin Said clearing his path was followed with a curled shot ending wide.
The Tanjong Pagar players quickly surrounded the referees but perhaps had Oliveira scored, the outcome would have been assessed for a VAR review for potential foul in the build-up.
In a potential battle for a top-five finish, DPMM FC climbed to sixth in the table while Tanjong Pagar remain rooted at the bottom in ninth.
