DPMM FC confirm signing of two new players

DPMM FC have confirmed the double signing of Brazilian defender Gabriel Gama and Portuguese winger Miguel Oliveira following a successful trial, the club announced via social media recently.

The Brunei professional club signalled their intent with the acquisitions of foreign imports ahead of the upcoming Singapore Premier League (SPL) season, commencing in May.

Gama joins the Gegar Gegar men from the Catanduva Under-20 team from Brazil while Oliveira boasted experience with former club Yarmouk. The duo will meet up with the local players once training resumes especially after returning from international duty in Saudi Arabia.

The club have also added highly-rated Mexican striker Julio Cruz in their ranks to bolster their attacking options. Cruz last played for Oaxaca, which compete in the Liga de Expansion MX, the second tier of Mexican professional league football. He scooped the Golden Boot during his first season with 10 goals in 16 league appearances.

The Minantlan native has also previously played for Costa Rican top flight club Cartagines in 2019 before moving to San Carlos the following year. He enjoyed a prolific form with San Carlos following a return of 13 goals in 17 appearances and also had a second spell on loan last year.

Meanwhile, DPMM FC ended their chase for Moldovan international Victor Mudrac after the player decided to stay with his club Petroclub Hincesti until the end of the league campaign.

The club in its website said that his decision came as a big shock after the player agreed on the transfer terms just weeks before the U-turn.

Since the end of last season, the club have seen changes in personnel notably with the appointment of Portuguese Rui Capela Batista as head coach. DPMM FC have also retained the services of Macedonian goalkeeper Kristijan Naumovski and Afghanistan defender Farshad Noor.

They are scheduled to play Chinese League 1 side Guangxi Pingguo in a friendly match as part of their pre-season preparations on April 20. – Fadhil Yunus
