DPMM FC Head Coach Rui Capela Batista highlighted the need for more work to overturn their recent form in the Singapore Premier League following a 4-2 defeat to Balestier Khalsa on Friday.
The head coach, who is understood to be leaving the club due to personal reasons said, “We started very well in the game and scored. But after that, we gave three gifts.”
He further added, “After that, we chased the result but it is not possible and we were left with nothing.
“We created chances and worked on solutions in attack but didn’t score which is normal. We need to work more together and it is not easy at this moment.”
Despite escaping with victory and climbing to third in the table, Balestier Khalsa FC head coach Peter De Roo was less pleased of his side’s display.
“This is below par. I can tell you that I played in bad games in my life but there is a certain level that you need to reach even if you play bad.”
He continued, “I was already fuming at half-time and if possible the second half was even worse. The performance was not of Balestier Khalsa’s standard.
“We definitely need to have a good look at this. There were enough opportunities to take control but we were too hasty and too sloppy in our passes from the get-go.
“There were enough spaces for us to play and make sure that we completely dominated this game.”
He concluded, “I thought that we made DPMM look much better than they were today and we have to blame ourselves for that and obviously conceding in the first five minutes.” – Fadhil Yunus
