DPMM FC coach calls for improved league position

DPMM FC head coach Rui Capela Batista has called the need to better their overall position in the Singapore Premier League last term following a 2-1 win against Young Lions at Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore on Saturday.

“We need to improve our last ranking and classification. We will try to improve it step by step and take each game as it comes,” said the newly-appointed head coach during a post-match interview.

After Young Lions Farhan Zulkifli stunned the visiting Bruneians, the Gegar Gegar men replied through new signing Miguel Oliveira before Yura Indera Putera snatched the winner.

Despite getting a number on Nazri Nasir’s charges, Capela was effusive in his praise of the opposition after providing them an attacking threat.

The head coach said, “I’m happy because we made the three points. We met a good opponent and we know they improved too much this year.

“But we played our game and I’m confident with the result.”

New signing Miguel Oliveira impressed in his debut causing nuisance to the Young Lions defence with his dribbling abilities.

The Portuguese forward said, “I’m very happy to help my team. It was a tough game against a good team with good foreigners and locals.”

He continued, “I came to make my name and put DPMM FC on top game by game.” – Fadhil Yunus
