Doors open for smart mobility expo

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah and Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha with Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sdn Bhd (BSM) Managing Director Muhammad Norshafiee bin Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil launched The Brunei Smart Mobility Expo 2023 at Bridex Hall 1 and 2 yesterday.

The first-of-its-kind three-day event is organised by BSM in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) and the National Road Safety Council (MKKJR).

Muhammad Norshafiee said, “The purpose of the Brunei Smart Mobility Expo is multi-faceted.

Firstly, it aspires to create an annual automotive exhibition that offers visitors a firsthand experience with the latest products and cutting-edge technologies defining our mobility landscape.”

“We envision the event becoming a corner-stone of the automotive industry, an anticipated annual gathering for enthusiasts and industry leaders alike, attracting both local and international exhibitors,” he added.

Muhammad Norshafiee also hoped the experience will provide visitors immersive insights into what the future holds for smart mobility.

“It is our aspiration to create a future where safety, efficiency, and convenience are at the forefront of customers’ daily routines. Insya Allah, the Brunei Smart Mobility Expo will become a catalyst for positive change, pushing the boundaries of what is possible and inspire us all to contribute to a smarter, safer, and sustainable future.”

Exhibitors are showcasing the latest products, technologies and promotions for the public.

Following the launch, the ministers and BSM’s managing director toured the exhibitions at the expo. Also in attendance were Managing Director of Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd and Shell Country Chair in Brunei Darussalam Agnete Johnsgaard-Lewis and government officials.

The exhibitions include latest car models, test drive of electric vehicles, MTIC and MKKJR exhibition, telecommunications, financial institutions, laser tag, BSM’s latest offering and innovation as well as interactive activities such as motorsports racing, virtual reality experiences and outdoor carnival games.

The Brunei Smart Mobility Expo 2023 will continue until tomorrow, as part of the Brunei December Festival 2023. – James Kon
