Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), in collaboration with various stakeholders, organised the ‘Kembara Amal Ramadhan’ programme across the Sultanate yesterday, delivering basic necessities to 17 underprivileged families registered with the Community Development Department (JAPEM), including monthly welfare recipients, orphans, the elderly and persons with different abilities (OKU).
Permanent Secretary (Community) at the MCYS Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari led the donation distribution in the Tutong District.
Five houses were visited in Kampong Bukit Beruang, Kampong Serambangun, Kampong Luagan Dudok, Kampong Bakiau Kiudang and Kampong Kupang.
Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary (Youth) at the MCYS Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin led the distribution in the Belait District.
Four houses were visited, namely Kampong Sungai Teraban, STKRJ Kampong Mumong ‘A’, Jalan Keruak, RPN Kampong Panaga, Seria, and Jalan Nakhoda Manis, Seria.
In the Temburong District, four houses were visited, led by Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the MCYS Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan.
The expedition started with two houses in RPN Kampong Rataie and continued to Kampong Sungai Tanit and Kampong Labu Estate.
In the Brunei-Muara District, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the MCYS Dr Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah led the distribution.
Four houses were in the itinerary from Jalan Limau Manis to Kampong Pengkalan Batu, Kampong Lumapas ‘B’, RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan and Kampong Pulaie.
Kampong Sengkarai Village Head Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan and Acting Director of JAPEM Fauziah binti Haji Mohd Salleh also led the distribution in the Tutong District. Meanwhile, Kampong Labu Estate and Piasau-Piasau Village Head Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Nasir joined the distribution in the Temburong District and Kampong Putat Village Head Zainol bin Mohamed participated in the Brunei-Muara District event. – Adib Noor
SMJA alumni
The first intake of Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School (SMJA) held a charity event for their family members, at Rasa Ceria Café, Telanai Avenue recently.
Following a speech by the chairperson Haji Abdurahman bin Haji Nasir, the event saw the presentation of food necessities to seven families, followed with the recitation of Tahlil and Doa Selamat and the breaking of fast.
The activity is an initiative of the alumni of the class of 1975 in assisting the needy and ease their burden ahead of the Raya festivities. – Azlan Othman
Bank of China Brunei
Bank of China (Hong Kong) Brunei Branch held a charity event where 10 needy families received donations, in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan recently.
The bank’s general manager Dr Li Feng and chief risk officer Andrew Young Chee Ann presented the families with daily necessities.
