Donations flow for the less fortunate

The Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday held Nuzul Al-Quran along with Khatam Al-Quran and a presentation of donations to orphans to mark the blessed month of Ramadhan.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar was the guest of honour.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, Takhtim, Doa Khatam and Dikir Marhaban. The minister handed over donations to 41 orphans.

The recipients were children of the workforce of the MoH and departments under it.

It ended with the recitation of Doa Selamat and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam. Also in attendance were Acting Permanent Secretary at the MoH Dr Ang Swee Hui, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Management), heads of departments, officers and staff at the ministry.

SEAMEO VOCTECH Regional Centre

The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation for Vocational and Technical (SEAMEO VOCTECH) Regional Centre through its Musala Ar-Raudah Committee held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony and presentation of donations to orphans during a ceremony at the centre’s building in Gadong.

SEAMEO VOCTECH Director Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar was the guest of honour.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Selawat Tafrijiyyah.

It was followed with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour.

Takthim and Doa Takhtim were recited after the completion of Khatam Al-Quran led by religious teacher from Sungai Besar Religious School Mohammad Ayub bin Ali. He later recited the Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam.

Some 11 orphans received donations from the guest of honour. The event concluded with breaking of fast and mass Magrhib prayer.

The annual religious calendar organised by SEAMEO VOCTECH is part of their corporate social responsibility project.

Kampong Lumut 1 Village Consultative Council

Forty-two individuals from families in need in Kampong Lumut 1 received donations as part of the ‘Jejak Infaq Ramadhan Al-Mubarak’ Project organised by the Village Consultative Council (MPK) Kampong Lumut 1 in collaboration with the Liang Lumut Recreation Club (LLRC).

Chairman and Acting Village Head of Kampong Lumut 1 Taib bin Haji Salleh led the contingent.

He was accompanied by co-chairman of the project Haji Abdul Ghani bin DSLJ Haji Mohd Salleh, along with LLRC staff and MPK Lumut 1 members.

The contingent visited the recipients’ residences to hand over the donations.

The contingent also expressed gratitude to Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd (Brunei LNG), Brunei Fertilizer Industries Sdn Bhd (BFI), and TotalEnergies EP (Brunei) BV for their contribution towards the project.

MAWAR Association

The MAWAR Association conducted a donation distribution ceremony for single mothers on Friday to glorify the blessed month of Ramadhan.

On April 13, the association received donations from the public and Vitaliv Health and Wellness Clinic. The donations were in the form of household items including rice, sugar, cooking oil and others. It was distributed among 11 single mothers and the donation will also be distributed to another 23 selected single mothers.

Some 50 individuals comprising association members and guests attended the event which took place at 934 Café in Delima Satu.

Hajah Ummi Faezah binti Haji Abd Rahman delivered a talk on ‘Allah’s Love through His Tests’.

The talk provided an understanding and awareness towards the tests given by Allah the Almighty as a show of His affection towards His creations.

In addition, the talk also served to motivate women to be more accepting and patient in facing Allah the Almighty’s fate, especially in the month of Ramadhan.

The event also witnessed a sharing session by single mother Mimi Rahzia binti Tamin who shared her own personal experience in surviving the challenges.

During the session, she advised single mothers to not easily give-up and to keep being strong for the sake of their family’s future.

The event aimed to increase awareness on the importance of supporting single mothers.
