Doa Kesyukuran marks WTISD 2024

The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) held a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony yesterday in conjunction with World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD).

Minister of Transport and Infocommunications and Chairman of AITI Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha attended the event.

The ceremony featured Sunnat Hajat prayers, recitation of Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil, Doa Kesyukuran and Asar prayer led by Imam Haji Nurhidayatullah bin Haji Zulkiflee.

Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Transport) at the MTIC Haji Mohammad Salihin bin Haji Aspar and AITI Chief Executive Ir Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar were also present.

Themed ‘Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development’, WTISD highlights the role of technology and ICT in addressing global challenges such as climate change and poverty.

The agency enhanced Brunei’s digital infrastructure to ensure reliable telecommunications and Internet services aligning with Brunei Vision 2035.

Recent projects include mobile services in rural Belait and solar-powered base stations, emphasising digital inclusivity and sustainable energy practices.

AITI will host the Digital Future Conference and Exhibition (DFCE) in commemoration of WTISD, focusing on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. – Adib Noor
