Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Mosque won the men’s category of the Dikir Syarafil Anam competition held at Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque in the Belait District yesterday.
Meanwhile, Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque triumphed in the women’s category.
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann presented the prizes to the winners.
The Mosque Affairs Department, in collaboration with the Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque Takmir Committee, held the competition for mosque officials, mosque takmir committee members, Muslimah groups and youth in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Dikir Syarafil Anam is among the religious events that has been practised by the locals for
generations.
It contains praises, greetings and the stories of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
According to the organisers, the competition aimed to provide guidance, exposure and opportunity for participants to learn the correct dikir techniques as well as improve the quality of reading in terms of fashahah, song and voice.
The event also encouraged the participants to continue to master dikir as well as make selawat a daily practice. – Azlan Othman
