The dikir group from the Ministry of Defence clinched the top spot in the men’s category and the dikir troupe from the Ministry of Education emerged as the champion in the women’s category of the Dikir Brunei competition for government ministries and departments to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) for 1446 Hijrah.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman presented prizes during a ceremony yesterday.
Organised by the Mosque Affairs Department through the Imarah Division, together with members of Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque takmir committee, Kampong Serusop, the competition took place at Pengiran Anak Puteri Muta-Wakkilah Hayatul Bolkiah Religious School hall.
The competition aims to train ministry officers, mosque takmir committee members and staff to recite Dikir Brunei and Dikir Syarafil Anam correctly, as well as to boost participants’ confidence for future competitions. – Azlan Othman
