A dialogue session between the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and Legislative Council (LegCo) members was held at the Youth Development Centre (PPB) yesterday.
The dialogue session aimed to foster a productive discussion for all parties to share ideas and work towards the ministry’s goals of excellence and mutual benefit.
Prior to the start of the dialogue session, the LegCo members visited the capacity development courses offered to youth and the community at the PPB.
The dialogue session began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Acting Director of Museums Pengiran Haji Rosli bin Pengiran Haji Halus.
The session continued with a welcoming speech and introduction by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad; and followed with a briefing on the ministry’s achievements for the 2024-2025 financial year and the direction of the ministry.
The session continued with a response from LegCo member Yang Berhormat Lawi bin Haji Lamat as the head of the LegCo members’ delegation. The dialogue session shared the ministry’s strategic focus on improving governance, operations, youth leadership, sports inclusion, cultural preservation and societal unity.
The strategies are based on proven approaches to ensure quality services and impactful programmes. Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the MCYS Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan acting for Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the MCYS; Permanent Secretary (Community) at the MCYS Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari; Permanent Secretary (Youth) at the MCYS Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin; and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the MCYS Dr Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah were also present. – Fadhil Yunus
