Becoming a hafiz or hafizah is a special gift from Allah the Almighty bringing a great responsibility, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan said during the reception ceremony for the new Year 7 students for Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB).
He said the students are chosen to carry, care for and uphold Al-Quran, hence it is important for them to always be steadfast and diligent as it is the key to success.
“As long as there is will and desire, there will be facilities that Allah the Almighty has bestowed upon you. Allah the Almighty has emphasised that Al-Quran is easy to memorise, understand and practice as stated in verse 17 of Surah Al-Qamar,” he said.
By embarking on the path of Al-Quran memorisation education, the deputy minister called on students to throw away their worries and concerns, and to read, memorise, feel and enjoy the greatness of Al-Quran as Kalamullah.
This, he added, “is a big step that requires commitment and determination. Being the guardian of Al-Quran is not just a task to memorise, but also to practice it in daily life”.
ITQSHHB, this year, implemented Al-Quran memorisation in stages as an addition to the subject curriculum. He added that the institute has achieved its strategic plan for 2024 goal where 95 per cent of the previous Year 11 students have completed memorising 30 Juzuk of Al-Quran and believes that with this achievement, the institute’s management will continue to improve its capabilities holistically, systematically and effectively.
“We want to see graduates of religious studies and Al-Quran memorisation who are competent and relevant to market needs as well as able to provide added value through expertise and practices of religious values.”
He reminded the students that they are the generation and hope of the country and not just the inheritors of knowledge, but also future leaders who will guide the society to the path that is pleasing to Allah the Almighty.
“Grab the opportunity to study at the institute.
“Unleash your potential, continue to strengthen your academics and deepen your knowledge of Al-Quran and other knowledge that will benefit yourself and others,” said the deputy minister.
The journey, he added, “may have its twists and turns but students must remember, it will be a beautiful and valuable experience and they are building a bright future for themselves and the entire Muslim community.”
He also called on students to make their time at the institute an opportunity to get closer to Allah the Almighty, improve their morals and manners, and master the knowledge. – Lyna Mohamad
