Deputy commander’s visit strengthens Brunei-US defence ties

Deputy Commander of the United States (US) Indo-Pacific Command US Army Lieutenant General Joshua M Rudd visited Brunei Darussalam from January 22 to yesterday, marking his first trip to the country in his current role.

He met with senior officials from the Ministry of Defence to strengthen the security partnership between the two nations. He also engaged with students at the Defence Academy’s Command and Staff Course, fostering professional military exchanges and deepening mutual understanding.

The US military and members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces have an enduring relationship and routinely participate in exercises together, such as the US Navy Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training and the US Army Pahlawan Warrior exercise, demonstrating the continued growth of the US and Brunei’s 40-year relationship.
