The Islamic Studies Department marked the 66th anniversary of the implementation of formal religious education in Brunei Darussalam with a walkathon during the Bandarku Ceria programme at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien yesterday. The event began with the recitation of Doa, followed by warm-up exercises.
The three-kilometre walk was led by Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim.
The event yesterday also saw quizzes, a Jawi show and a mini-exhibition.
The event was held to foster closer ties among the workforce at the Islamic Studies Department and their families and to promote physical, spiritual and mental health while upholding religious education in the country.
