DeliXKota emerged champions in the SBD Futsal Cup 2024 after overcoming Kar A 4-3 in penalties at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas last weekend.
There was little to choose from in normal time with the two finalists locked in a goalless stalemate before penalties convened to determine the winners. En route to the title decider, DeliXKota emerged 3-1 winners in the quarter-final match-up against Wira Jaya. The newly-crowned winners won 4-2 in penalties against Hars Elite to book their spot in the final after both sides drew blanks in normal time.
Kar B finished third after defeating Hars Elite in a playoff 5-4 in penalties after the match ended goalless in normal time.
Meanwhile, in recognition of outstanding individual performances, Nur Yamin Muhammad of Kar A bagged the Best Final Player Award while DeliXKota’s Abu Yazid Haji Abu Samah brought home the Best Final Goleiro award.
A total of 22 teams registered for the meet including two overseas teams from Miri, Sarawak.
The tournament was also enlivened with the appearance of an import player from JDT Iwan Bakri. – Fadhil Yunus
