Defendant in dangerous driving case to appeal

A Filipino sentenced two days ago to three months’ and two weeks’ jail for dangerous driving causing death, was also granted a stay of execution by the court.

Elmer Endaya Passion, 47, is now out on bail after his lawyer Ahmad Basuni Abbas applied for a stay of execution pending an appeal.

In summary, Prosecutor Ahmad Firdaus bin Mohammad shared in court that the defendant, driving on April 24, 2019, was looking for a car sports rim seller’s address.

He stopped at a shop to take a call from his employer asking him to pick up the boss’ children from school.

Initially planning one route, he later decided on a U-turn to take a quicker path back. At around 1.30pm, attempting an unauthorised U-turn, he collided with another car whose driver was taking his son to school, resulting in the son’s death and injuries to the driver. – Fadley Faisal
