Defence to submit ‘prima facie’, court orders in people smuggling case

    Fadley Faisal

The Intermediate Court yesterday fixed April 18 to give ruling on a defence ‘prima facie’ in a case of people smuggling.

Muhammad Zularif bin Zinial, 26, pleaded guilty to entering Brunei without using a passport on September 24, 2019 and denied a charge of conveyance of three smuggled Vietnamese individuals on a vessel he operated in September 2019.

Judge Radin Safiee bin Radin Mas Basiuni ordered defence counsel Daud Ismail for Muhammad Zularif to file the submission, followed by a reply by the prosecution before the court gives its ruling.

Prosecutor Nur Zahidah Farhanah binti Abdul Aziz represented the public prosecutor yesterday.
