Daylight blaze in Kg Ayer brought under control

Swift action taken by firefighters yesterday morning prevented a huge house fire from spreading in Kampong Ayer.

A distress call was received around 9.17am about a house fire at Kampong Bendahara Lama in Kampong Ayer, according to the Fire and Rescue Department.

Eighteen firefighters and three firefighting boat from Pelancaran Fire Station and Sungai Kebun Fire Station were dispatched, led by Commanding Officer of Operation ‘D’ Branch SSFR Amirul Hadi bin Haji Junaidi.

Firefighters upon discovering a huge blaze engulfing a wooden house at the scene, brought the fire under control in 10 minutes.

The FRD advised the public to ensure that homes are equipped with fire extinguishers, fire blankets and battery-operated smoke detectors. The installation of wiring and electrical equipment should be done by qualified technicians while unused electrical appliances must be switched off before leaving the house.

Gas regulator should be unplugged or covered when not in use.
