A dawn talk titled ‘Israk and Mikraj as a Source of Inspiration in Life’ by Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) religious development officer Haji Muhammad Najib bin Haji Awang, was among the highlights of yesterday’s ‘Masjidku Makmur, Negara Berkat’ programme at Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital.
The talk reflected on the lessons from Israk and Mikraj, a significant event in the Islamic calendar, during which Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) made the miraculous night journey from Masjidil Haram in Makkah (Israk) to Masjidil Aqsa in Palestine, and ascended to the heavens (Mikraj) to meet Allah the Almighty at Sidratul Muntaha.
The event culminated in the commandment of the five daily prayers, made obligatory for all Muslims.
Officers and staff from the Ministry of Religious Affairs attended the programme, which featured mass Subuh prayer and wirid recitations. The ‘Masjidku Makmur, Negara Berkat’ initiative aims to encourage the public to continuously frequent and prosper the mosque by performing the mass Subuh prayer, which holds greater merit than praying individually.
Additionally, the programme offers an opportunity for the public to seek blessings by fulfilling the obligations of congregational prayers, engaging in wirid recitations after prayers and starting their weekend mornings with joy and spiritual fulfilment before pursuing recreational activities. – Lyna Mohamad
