The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the Sultanate invited the internationally renowned troupe Taiwan Diabolo Dance Theatre to perform in the country.

Tickets for the two Light of Life performances tonight and tomorrow afternoon at Jerudong International School (JIS) Art Centre have been sold out.

The performance, created by the Diabolo Dance Theatre, combines singing, acrobatics, dance, body movement, percussion, drums and multimedia through a concerto rhythm where virtual and reality meet.

The 19-member troupe comprises 14 professional performers who arrived in the country on Thursday.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office hosted a welcoming dinner for the troupe.

Founder and director of Diabolo Dance Theatre Eddie Liu, shared, “I am thrilled to be in Brunei. I am 57 years old and we have performed in over 30 countries. But this is our first time performing in the Sultanate.

“Our performance will be better when compared to our previous shows. It will run for 80 minutes and we will combine multimedia and Diabolo performance to captivate the audiences’ imagination,” he said.

The visiting Diabolo Dance Theatre also had a fruitful exchange with 200 JIS students yesterday.

Members of the troupe put on a thrilling performance for the students and introduced the traditional Yoyo Diabolo.
