The internationally renowned troupe Taiwan Diabolo Dance Theatre awed the crowd in a spectacular performance at the Jerudong International School Arts Centre yesterday.
Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam representative Vanessa Yea-Ping Shih welcomed the audience.
Themed ‘Light of life’, the performance combining singing, acrobatics, dance, percussions and light shows brought the audience on a fantastical trip.
Founder and Director of Taiwan Diabolo Dance Theatre Eddie Liu said, “I am thrilled to be in Brunei. I am already 57 years old and we have performed in more than 30 countries, but this is the first time we are performing here.”
He vowed that the Bruneian audience will never forget the show, saying, ”Our performance here is of a higher level than our previous performances. It will be 80 minutes combining multimedia and Diabolo performance, captivating the imagination.”
The troupe was invited by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the country to promote bilateral cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Brunei.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office said the tickets were given away free and had been snatched up for yesterday and today’s performances. – Adib Noor
