Daily COVID numbers on downward trend

Brunei Darussalam’s daily COVID-19 numbers continue its downward trend with 2,010 new infections yesterday. Of the new cases, 1,718 were from antigen rapid test (ART) results uploaded to the BruHealth app and 292 from 2,501 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

With the latest numbers, the national tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 118,892. Five deaths were recorded among COVID-19 patients where two are due to the coronavirus infection. Both deceased had received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Three other deaths were not categorised as due to COVID-19.

This was shared by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at a press conference yesterday.

A total of 5,600 cases recovered yesterday bringing the total number of recoveries to 94,774 while the total active cases are 23,984.

The bed occupancy rate in isolation centres is 6.4 per cent with 224 patients while 23,760 positive cases are undergoing home self-isolation.

The minister revealed that there are 16 cases in Category 4 and seven patients in Category 5 utilising 8.8 per cent of the National Isolation Centre’s treatment capacity.

As of March 15, over 94 per cent of Brunei population is fully vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccines and 59 per cent were administered the third dose.

No violations were detected during the movement restriction from midnight to 4am.
