The Council of Women of Brunei Darussalam (CWBD) held a Tedarus Al-Quran ceremony on Sunday with 100 members from 13 affiliated associations participating.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by CWBD Vice President I Pengiran Datin Paduka Hajah Mariam binti Pengiran Haji Matarsat, who also delivered welcoming remarks.
She highlighted that the ceremony aimed to honour Ramadhan, strengthen ties and encourage engagement with Al-Quran.
Following her speech, Surah Al-Baqarah was read in turns by the board of governors of the council, followed by representatives from each association.
The session continued with the recitation of Surah Al-Baqarah led by the council’s board members and followed by representatives from each association.
The event concluded with Tahlil and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam.
The participating associations included Pertiwi, Women’s Institute of Brunei Darussalam, Welfare Body of the Spouses of Senior Government Officials and Women Officials, Belait District Women Welfare Association, Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam, Brunei Malay Teachers Association, Tutong District Women Welfare Associations, RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan Women’s Welfare Body, Women Graduate Association of Brunei Darussalam, Kampong Lambak Youth Association, Kampong Junjungan Women Association, Nurul Islam Association and Welfare Association of the Spouses of the Royal Brunei Air Force.
Members of the Kampong Manggis Consultative Village Council Women Bureau and Muslimah of Suri Seri Begawan Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque in Kampong Manggis/Madang also participated.
The opening ceremony marks an annual event for the members to further enliven the atmosphere in the holy month of Ramadhan. – Lyna Mohamad
