Chung Ching Middle School, Kuala Belait celebrated its 86th anniversary with an evening of multicultural performances on October 12.
Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Xiao Jianguo and Belait Chinese Chamber of Commerce (CCC Belait) chairman Loo Soon also participated in the event, held at the school’s multipurpose hall.
Board of Directors Chairman Chin Kim Min highlighted the school’s journey through challenges and achievements over the past 86 years.
“Tonight’s celebration highlights our school’s ongoing goal to nurture future leaders, reflected in the performances prepared by our students to mark this milestone,” he added.
CCC Belait chairman Loo Soon, sharing his personal connection to the school as an alumnus, emphasised the importance of passing on the Chinese culture to younger generations.
The Chinese ambassador meanwhile praised the school’s dedication to the Chinese culture and education, noting its contribution to Brunei society and China-Brunei relations. The celebration concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and a lucky draw.
Twelve students were also awarded for their academic excellence from the previous year. – Daniel Lim
