His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office visited the British Forces Brunei (BFB) community in Seria yesterday.
Upon arrival at Tuker Lines Landing Point on a Puma helicopter from 230 Squadron of the United Kingdom Royal Air Force, His Royal Highness was welcomed by British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam John Virgoe; BFB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Hugo Stanford-Tuck; and Gurkha Major, First Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles (1RGR) Major Jiwan Pun.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin, Royal Brunei Land Force Commander Brigadier General Haji Mohammad Shanonnizam bin Sulaiman and United Kingdom Defence Adviser to Brunei Darussalam Captain Jonathan Caple, Royal Navy, were also present.
His Royal Highness proceeded to Tuker Lines Guard Room using a 4×4 vehicle. Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was presented with a Maala garland before inspecting a guard of honour. His Royal Highness was also invited to sign the VVIP Parchment before proceeding to the BFB headquarters where His Royal Highness met local staff members.
His Royal Highness proceeded to the Tuker Lines 25m Firing Range to view a demonstration of support weapons and tracking. His Royal Highness also shot live rounds using a Glock 17 9mm pistol.
His Royal Highness later visited the Hornbill School and was greeted by Headteacher Caroline Neal on arrival.
His Royal Highness met with students and teachers and was presented with a scarf by a student.
His Royal Highness also observed a dance and a choir performance from the students.
After the visit, His Royal Highness met with family members of BFB personnel at the Officers’ Mess.
His Royal Highness was also presented with a pesambah before proceeding to a royal luncheon.
