His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office attended the international friendly match between the Brunei Darussalam national team and Sri Lanka at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas last night.
Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad. The international friendly match is in line with FIFA Days, which is part of the calendar where senior international fixtures are being held across the globe.
Yesterday’s match was the second time the two teams faced with Brunei winning the first game 1-0 on Saturday.
It also marked the Wasps’ friendly match at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium since September 2012 when they hosted Indonesia.
The national team is scheduled to return to action in the upcoming Asian Football Confederation Asian Cup qualification and ASEAN Football Federation Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024 qualification. – Fadhil Yunus
