The second and final day of the Istana Nurul Iman Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House drew even larger crowds, as thousands of visitors—both from within Brunei and abroad—flocked to the palace on Wednesday for the royal family’s much-anticipated Hari Raya meet-and-greet.
From the early hours of the morning, the palace grounds were already abuzz with excitement, filled with people eager to take part in the festive tradition. Locals, residents, and tourists alike gathered in a show of unity and celebration, reflecting the enduring appeal of this annual event.
A highlight of the Hari Raya calendar for many, one of the most cherished moments of the occasion was the junjung ziarah audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, and members of the royal family.
This royal audience, a symbol of deep cultural and national significance, returned after a five-year pause following the global outbreak of COVID-19—making this year’s event all the more meaningful for those in attendance.
