Creative passions on display

The VIBE Art Exhibition and Media Week 2023 was launched at the Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS) campus in Kiulap yesterday, showcasing creative works of students until February 12.

The art exhibition is displaying creative works of students from KIGS, while Media Week 2023 features a number of activities including the Gaming and Film Festival.

This year, students from Meragang Sixth Form Centre (PTEM) is also showcasing their work in a collaboration with KIGS to gain exposure in the creative industry.

A total of 21 pieces from PTEM’s A-Level students are on display.

Progresif Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hajah Nurul Haniah binti Haji Jaafar launched the event.

Creative works by students showcased at the exhibition

Hajah Nurul Haniah in her opening remarks said, “An education in the arts, including multimedia, fosters critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills and these are essential life skills that will serve students well in any career they choose to pursue.

She highlighted that, “the exciting potential of emerging technologies like virtual and augmented reality…” are poised to further transform the creative economy in the coming years, creating new opportunities and challenges.

She encouraged students to pursue their passions and interests and to embrace those opportunities.

“The future is bright for those who are creative, innovative, and willing to take risks,” she said.

“I hope this year’s exhibition continues to inspire and encourage you to pursue your passions and interests… It is my hope that one day, the arts and multimedia industry becomes one of the driving economy for Brunei,” she added.

KIGS CEO Dr Haji Azaharaini bin Haji Mohd Jamil, partners and sponsors of the event and senior management and lecturers at the college were also present.

KIGS hopes that the event will be a platform for the students to gain public interest and recognition.

The VIBE Art Exhibition and Media Week 2023 is open to the public from 9am to 9pm.
