Create environment where individuals can flourish, HR professionals told

In today’s rapidly evolving world, the role of human resources (HR) management is more crucial than ever in managing and inspiring an organisation’s most valuable asset – its people, said Brunei Institute of Leadership and Islamic Finance (BILIF) Acting Chief Executive Officer Afero Eswandy Mohamad.

HR professionals should create an environment where individuals can flourish, cultivate their talents and make meaningful contributions to the organisation’s shared success, he said during the institute’s annual retreat recently.

The retreat saw the announcement of BILIF’s memorandum of understanding signing with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The collaboration aims to elevate the development and skills of HR professionals, especially in the Sultanate.

The retreat themed ‘People-Centric Leaders: Inspiring Today, Shaping Tomorrow’ this year was attended by over 40 HR professionals from both private and government organisations such as the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Brunei Darussalam Central Bank, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei and Baiduri Bank Group.

Among the objectives of the retreat were to strengthen relationships between BILIF and its stakeholders and clients as well as to provide a platform for HR professionals to network and learn from one another.

The annual event discussed the latest HR trends and issues as well as remedial strategies in human capital development.

The event saw several presentations including ‘HR Superpowers’ by BILIF representatives and ‘People-Centric Leaders: Inspiring Today, Shaping Tomorrow’ by SHRM Associate Trainer (Southeast Asia) Soann Chng. Chng and BILIF representatives led a workshop titled ‘Learning and Development Needs Analysis’.
