The Ministry of Health’s (MoH) weekly COVID-19 media press conference will now be only held as needed. It will no longer be held every week. However, certain COVID-19 information will continue to be disseminated through the media.

This was shared by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah during a press conference yesterday.

The minister also advised the people and residents of Brunei not to feel anxious or panic following reports of increased cases in several countries.

He added that the COVID-19 Steering Committee constantly monitors the situation of the infection in the country, as well as at regional and global levels, and makes risk assessments regarding its impact on the health system in the Sultanate. The committee will also ensure that control measures are appropriate to maintain the safety, well-being, and security of the people.

“This country will always be ready to face any situation with a robust health system and a high vaccination rate and level of immunity,” said the minister. He said changes and updates regarding the COVID-19 control measures would be informed to the public.

He also advised the public to ensure that their COVID-19 vaccination status is updated, per MoH’s recommendations, such as getting the COVID-19 vaccine booster shots for those aged 18 and above after more than six months since the last date they were vaccinated or from the date of getting infected with COVID-19 calculated from the latest date, and regardless of the amount of booster doses that has been received.
