COVID death toll at 115; three violate stay-at-home order

Brunei Darussalam yesterday registered two COVID-19 fatalities, with one being COVID-19 related, bringing the total number of COVID-19 fatalities to 115.

Meanwhile a total of 3,461 new COVID-19 cases were detected yesterday – 2,687 from ART screening and 774 from RT-PCR testing.

The total number of PCR tests carried out in laboratories is 5,126. The latest cases brings the national tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 51,516, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

There are nine cases in Category 4 receiving oxygen assistance and under close observation, while four cases in Category 5, requiring the assistance of artificial ventilation and treatment at the intensive care unit.

Some 1,255 cases have recovered, bringing the total number to 24,848 recoveries. The bed occupancy rate at isolation centres nationwide is 7.7 per cent, and the total active cases are at 26,553.

As of February 24, 95 per cent of the total population had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 94.2 per cent had received two doses. A total of 53.3 per cent of the population had received the booster shots.
There were six violations detected during the daily movement restriction from midnight to 4am.

Three were violations of the stay-at-home directive while another three for not having the BruHealth app.

The offenders were Md Shahrul Rizal bin Zulhan, Zulhan Kahar and Md Waieman Wahyu Haziq bin Abdullah.

According to the Royal Brunei Police Force, all violations were in Brunei-Muara District.
