Utamacon (B) Sdn Bhd, a Board of Architects, Professional Engineers and Quantity Surveyors (BAPEQS) registered local quantity surveying company produced its first cost handbook for the Brunei oil and gas Industry.
Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) Asset Engineering Services – AES and Project Control Services – Contract Holder Pengiran Yuly Hasmulhayat binti Pengiran Hashim as the guest of honour, BSP Project Control Services – Contract Site Representative Siti Ramizah binti Haji Manap and Utamacon Group of Companies senior management attended the launching event.
The ceremony started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Mohd Hizamie bin Abdul Razak.
Utamacon Managing Director Sr Mohammad Shafie bin Haji Mohd Yusof in his opening remarks expressed thanks to the Brunei Government and BSP for their support for Utamacon’s practice. As part of the company’s initiative in giving back to the nation, the company embarked on producing the cost handbook in 2018.
He said it took them some three years to produce the handbook. While Utamacon has in the past produced few cost handbooks and Schedule of Rates books, the cost handbook for the oil and gas industry was a challenge as cost data is not readily available in the market nor in the public domain.
He hoped that the first edition of the cost handbook for the oil and gas industry can be used as a reference document. He also said the handbook will be a live document and updated from time-to-time.
