The manager and majority shareholder of a contractor company and a subcontractor were recently fined by the Authority of Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi) for carrying out earthworks without permit in Kampong Sungai Besar, Mukim Kota Batu.
Each party has been slapped with a compound fine of BND5,000 for violating Section 24 and Section 43 of the Building Control Order 2014, for carrying out earthworks without permit and performing construction works without a builder’s licence.
The ABCi in a press statement said construction works can only be carried out by companies registered with the Ministry of Development.
It also called on construction companies to comply with all acts, regulations, standards and guidelines to ensure the well-being of the public as well as the safety of properties.
