The construction of Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam School – the first school dedicated to special needs students in Brunei Darussalam – began yesterday with a foundation laying ceremony.

The school, costing BND879,000 to build, can accommodate around 200 special needs children from Year 1 to Year 6 with special curriculum.

Once completed, it will have six classrooms, a teachers’ room, a meeting room and an information technology (IT) room.
