President of China Xi Jinping
On the auspicious occasion of the 38th National Day of Brunei Darussalam, I wish, on behalf of the Goverment and people of China, and in my own name, to extend to Your Majesty, and through Your Majesty, to the Government and people of Brunei Darussalam, my warmest congratulations and best wishes.
Since the independence 38 years ago, under Your Majesty’s leadership, Brunei Darussalam has made remarkable achievements in the development of the country, and the people’s living standard has been improving constantly. Last year, Brunei successfully fulfilled the duties of rotating chair of ASEAN. Your Majesty and I co-chaired the Special Summit to commemorate the 30th anniversary of China-ASEAN Dialogue Relations, and China-ASEAN relations were elevated to new heights.
China and Brunei are neighbours boasting traditional friendship and enjoying strategic cooperative partnership. Practical cooperation in various fields have achieved fruitful results. I attach great importance to the development of China-Brunei relations, and hope that the cooperation in terms of the fight against COVID-19 and the development of the Belt and Road Initiative be further advanced with joint efforts to achieve new progress in our bilateral relations and bring more welfare to both countries and peoples.
