Last year, Brunei successfully fulfilled the duties of rotating chair of ASEAN.
China-ASEAN relations were upgraded on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of China-ASEAN dialogue relations. Taking this opportunity, I would like to once again express the appreciation and congratulation to Brunei.
Last year also marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brunei. We co-chaired the 2nd meeting of China-Brunei Intergovernmental Joint Steering Committee and held multiple phone conversations, exchanging in-depth views on bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues of mutual interests, on which extensive consensus was reached.
I stand ready to maintain close contact with the government of Brunei Darussalam and under the strategic guidance of our heads of states, to promote China-Brunei relations’ further development and to make more contributions to regional peace and stability.
