Conference on dementia to be held in October

The Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) Asia Pacific Regional Conference 2023 (ADI-APRC 2023) will be held from October 26 to 29 at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

Demensia Brunei (dB) President Dr Teo Shyh Poh and dB Vice President Irnawati binti Haji Mahir revealed details during a press conference at the Health Promotion Centre yesterday.

The conference’s theme is ‘Know Dementia, Know Alzheimer’s – Together We Can Achieve More’, highlighting the significance of collaborative learning and cooperation amongst participants.

dB will host the ADI-APRC 2023 alongside the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Supported by the Ministry of Home Affairs, this marks the first such event to be hosted in Brunei this year.

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) are supporting ADI-APRC 2023.

The conference’s schedule includes a closed meeting for ADI members on October 26 followed by the main conference from October 27 to 29. It serves as a platform to share insights and experiences among individuals with dementia, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and academics. The conference has been promoted internationally with speakers and participants from Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, New Zealand and United States.

Registration for the conference is open to local participants. – James Kon
