Conference enables unity, community development

Four officers from the Ministry of Religious Affairs were in Singapore for the International Conference on Cohesive Societies, which enables young leaders both regionally and internationally to network and cooperate in social unity and community development.

The Brunei delegation comprised Senior Religious Officer at Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) Haji Ahmad Abdussalam bin Haji Abdul Rahman, as the Head of Delegation; Senior Special Duties Officer cum the Head of Public Relations, International and Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore (MABIMS) Haji Mohammad Albi bin Haji Ibrahim; Special Duties Officer Grade II at Counselling and Religious Understanding Muhammad Yussof bin Haji Abdul Majid as well as Education Officer at the Public Relations, International and MABIMS Dayangku Musharafah binti Pengiran Haji Kamarudin.

The three-day conference, which began on Tuesday, gathered over 800 scholars from academia, representatives from government and private sectors and local as well as international religious groups.

The agenda included discussing the role of religion in promoting social unity, the role of identity in shaping how individuals interact among themselves and the community as well as highlighting the potential of technology in relevant applications.

The conference was also a platform to share experience and exchange ideas to build an integrated and harmonious society.
