I am writing to express my concern regarding the misleading portrayal of Brunei as a premier golf destination.
Collapsed fences that remain unrepaired after many years, unplayable fairways, constantly flooded bunkers and a collapsed bridge have forced the closure of several holes with no urgency shown to address these issues at some of the golf courses in the country.
Despite a considerable amount of money spent on replacing greens and greenside bunkers, neglect have led to rapid deterioration, making it a complete waste of public resources. The embarrassment is palpable when comparing Brunei’s facilities to those in neighbouring countries like Malaysia (Kota Kinabalu, Miri) and Indonesia, where golf courses are well-maintained and inviting.
I urge the authorities to investigate these discrepancies and prioritise urgent repairs.
