Company wins ASEAN Business Award

Poni Divers, a leading marine conservation and sustainable tourism company in Brunei, won the ASEAN Business Award (ABA) for SME Outstanding in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This is the third ABA win for Poni Group and its subsidiaries, following SME Excellence Growth awards in 2020 and 2021.

Poni Divers received the award for their work during Ocean Week Brunei, a major event they co-organised with LAUT Brunei and the Department of Fisheries. The event focused on marine conservation, sustainable practices and community engagement. Poni Divers was one of two Bruneian companies recognised at the awards in Vientiane, Laos, alongside Deladi Petroleum Services Sdn Bhd, which won for SME Outstanding Award for Growth.

Since 2009, Poni Divers has made significant contributions to marine conservation through activities such as coastal clean-ups, reef rehabilitation and community workshops. Their initiatives have involved partnerships with local and international organisations, and they have engaged over 7,000 local youth in green programmes. Poni Group’s continued growth in CSR highlights its key role in marine conservation in Southeast Asia. With Ocean Week Brunei 2025 on the horizon, the group aims to build on this success and turn raised awareness into concrete actions.

Meanwhile, Poni Divers and LAUT Brunei also handed over the first-ever reef ball crafted by Brunei students to Jerudong International School (JIS) through the JIS Dive Club on Wednesday.

The reef ball was created by JIS students as part of the Reef Ball School Programme, which launched at the school’s Outdoor Discovery Centre in November 2023.

Since then, Poni Divers and LAUT Brunei have continued working with JIS, engaging students in marine conservation and producing a total of 34 reef balls, some of which have been placed at a dedicated JIS reef ball site at Pelong Rocks.

LAUT Brunei representatives Donna Baltazar and Fatnin Shah, with JIS faculty members Sue Mead and Dani Mason were present.
