Company fined for illegal dumping

A local company was slappped with a BND500 fine by the Tutong District Office for disposing rubbish in public areas.

The company was ordered to settle the compound fine within seven days.

The failure to do so will result in the matter being brought to court. If found guilty, the offender can face a fine between BND2,000 and BND10,000 for the first offence. For a subsequent offence, the company may face a fine of between BND10,000 and BND30,000, imprisonment of no more than 12 months, or both.

The Tutong District Office also reminded the public to maintain the cleanliness of public spaces. – James Kon
