Members of Kampong Lumut II Village Consultative Council (MPK) organised a Gotong Royong Campaign to spruce up the surrounding area of the Gerai Lumut Jetty yesterday.
The campaign was led by Kampong Lumut II Village Head Haji Khairdon bin Haji Dahlan, who recited Surah Al-Fatihah and delivered a short safety briefing at the start of the campaign.
The group collected 12 bags of trash and cleared out overgrown grass and disused items from the area.
The campaign serves as preparation for some of the upcoming events slated to be held in the area. “One such event that will be held here (at the Gerai Lumut Jetty) will be the Gerai Ramadhan during the fasting month,” Haji Khairdon said.
He also noted that the campaign also serves to further enliven the area for the community and ease of comfort for local business entrepreneurs operating in the area. – Daniel Lim
