The Bandar Seri Begawan Indian Association (BSBIA) organised a blood donation drive to mark the 75th year of India’s Independence at the Blood Donation Centre of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital yesterday.
Fifty-five BSBIA members and friends donated blood.
The campaign, organised in collaboration with the High Commission of India in Brunei Darussalam, aimed to replenish the blood supply at RIPAS Hospital.
High Commissioner-Designate of India to Brunei Darussalam Alok Amitabh Dimri praised the organisers and encouraged them to participate in more community services in the Sultanate.
According to BSBIA President NM Mubarak, the annual blood donation drive, started 20 years ago, was one of the many events organised by the association as part of its corporate social responsibility.
Meanwhile, 57 pints of blood were collected during a donation campaign organised by One City Shopping Complex in collaboration with the Blood Donation Centre at the atrium of the shopping complex on Saturday.
The event attracted shoppers to roll up their sleeves for a good cause.
Members of the public are encouraged to consider donating blood by visiting the centre booking a slot through the Bloodkad app.
