The Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) is issuing commemorative coins in gold, silver and cupronickel in conjunction with the official naming of the Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien (SHOAS) Bridge.
The commemorative coins will be legal tender in the Sultanate. The Gold (Special Edition 1) bears a face value of BND300, made of 999.9 gold, weighs 40 grammes (g) and measures 36 millimetres (mm) in diameter with a selling price of BND4,000.
For Gold (Special Edition 2), the face value is also BND300, made up of 999.9 gold, weighing 40g and measuring 36mm in diameter, sold at BND4,000.
Meanwhile, for the Silver type, the face value is BND30 and made up of 999 silver. The coin weighs 40g and measures 45mm in diameter with the selling price of BND300.
For cupronickel, the face value is BND3, made up of cupronickel weighing at 31.10g and measures 40mm in diameter.
The selling price is BND110. The commemorative coins will be available for sale to the public from November 8.
Members of the public interested in purchasing the coins can visit BDCB Currency Gift Shop, at Level 1, BCMB building at the Ministry of Finance and Economy Complex.
The opening hours are from every Monday to Thursday from 8.30am-11.30am and from 2pm-4.30pm. Meanwhile on Friday, it opens from 8.30am-11am, while the gift shop is closed in the afternoon.
