The Convocation Festival and Market Day 2024 is a celebration and a platform to recognise the collective effort behind its success, Acting Director of Politeknik Brunei (PB) Lim Kian Boon said.
It honours the support, guidance, and relentless commitment of the board of governors, staff, industry partners and the community, therefore further clarifying the journey towards building a highly-skilled workforce for Brunei Vision 2035, he said during the launch of the festival at the One Stop Centre, Ong Sum Ping Campus yesterday, in conjunction with its 10th convocation ceremony.
Acting Permanent Secretary (Fiscal II) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy Hajah Latifah binti Haji Mahmud officiated the launch.
The three-day event, which runs until tomorrow, marks the second year of Market Day as part of the Convocation Festival. It provides a platform for government and private agencies to offer job opportunities to PB graduates.
Among the highlights are an exhibition of final year projects by PB students, a curriculum vitae writing and interview clinic run by the Brunei Employment Centre (PPB) and PB staff, talks and sharing sessions by the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), Shell LiveWIRE Brunei and a blood donation campaign.
The Market Day 2024 is joined by 14 private agencies, with three agencies offering walk-in interviews.
A Khatam Al-Quran ceremony will take place on October 17 at Universiti Brunei Darussalam mosque, followed by a PB graduate appreciation ceremony on November 2 at Jerudong Park Amphitheatre, organised by the PB Student Representative Council (MPP). The 10th PB Convocation Ceremony will be held on October 24 at the International Convention Centre, Berakas. – James Kon
