Firefighters captured a three-metre-long cobra after it was discovered in a drainage near a residential house in Kampong Rataie, Temburong District on Saturday.
No one was hurt during the incident.
The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), in a statement, shared that six firefighters led by ABKS 689 Mohd Arif Jame bin Abdullah from the Rataie Fire Station responded to the emergency call and found the snake in the drainage.
Firefighters captured the reptile and released it far from human habitat for public safety.
In light of the incident, the public is urged to ensure that their home environment is clean and tidy, ensuring doors and windows are shut when no one is home to prevent the entry of wild animals.
The department also urged the public to refrain from approaching or threatening wild animals and added that poultry farms tend to attract wild animals and the public must ensure that the surrounding areas of these farms are kept clean.
