The Lunar New Year is the most important celebration for the Chinese community. Each year, the celebration is named after one of the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac in a repeating cycle.
This year, the Year of the Rabbit saw normal celebrations returning with the usual atmosphere of the festivities and open houses hosted at almost every Chinese residence in the Sultanate.
Families gathered and reunited while some with families abroad made their trip back here for celebrations together.
Celebrants took the opportunity to catch up with friends, enjoy the festivities and continue the tradition to pass down to the next generations.
The past two days have also seen lion dance troupes visit open houses on invitation by the hosts and celebrants.
