Club hailed for its track record at anniversary event

The Rotary Club of Bandar Seri Begawan celebrated its 59th anniversary with a reception at a hotel on Saturday.

Rotary Club of Bandar Seri Begawan 2024-2025 president Alan Saikawa and president-elect Jerry Neo, as the organising chair as well as Rotarians from overseas, were also in attendance.

He congratulated the Rotary Club of Bandar Seri Begawan for its track record of humanitarian projects and recommended the club to produce its own book, Rotary in Brunei – 60 great years. Saikawa said; “Our club was chartered by the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu in May 23, 1965. We have flourished into a committee club with a diverse membership from various countries including Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and the Philippines.

“The dedication and efforts of every member have allowed us to navigate the journey of 59 years together.

“We remain strong, healthy and dynamic, ensuring our club’s presence in District 3310 as one of the vibrant clubs dedicated to service above self.”

District Governor Dr Yap Lip Kee and First Lady Dr Rachel was also present. The dinner also saw the cutting of a cake to mark Rotary Club of Bandar Seri Begawan’s 59th anniversary celebration and a certificate presentation to the success of the Water Project Lawas Pa Adang Ulu Trusan. – James Kon
