Having a guideline which may involve law and punishment have to be properly studied before any actions should be taken, said Minister of Religious Affairs Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman at the 19th Legislative Council (LegCo) meeting yesterday.

The minister was responding to concerns over the trend of women wearing improper attire in public.

LegCo member Yang Berhormat Hajah Rosmawatty binti Haji Abdul Momin raised the issue of whether a guideline should be issued on proper women’s attire by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).

The minister acknowledged the concerns, adding that proper attire should be one that covers one’s aurat.

Yang Berhormat Hajah Rosmawatty also suggested that gyms should have separate sessions for males and females in accordance with the national philosophy of Malay Islamic Monarchy.
