ANN/THE STAR – An Australian climber who developed severe acute mountain sickness (AMS) had to be carried down from Mount Kinabalu yesterday.
The 24-year-old woman was assisted by the fire department’s Mountain Search and Rescue (Mosar) team from the Laban Rata rest house.
A department spokesman said they earlier received a call about a climber with AMS and fever at the rest house.
“Our Mosar team and mountain porters then helped the woman by giving her a piggyback ride to Timpohon gate (the main entrance to the summit trail),” he said.
